Boricua Youth Reading Collective

Welcome to Boricua Youth Reading Collective! The very first in-person and virtual research study class at the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance. Students will experience eight 2-hour learning sessions (16 hours total) that celebrate Boricua history through various reading, writing, discussions, and creative projects. Participants will learn to share their unique opinions and lived experiences across multiple creative formats, including multimedia writing and audio-recorded interviews. Their direct feedback and insights will serve a vital role in helping educators design more engaging, responsive reading curricula for schools.

Madeline Desi Kobayashi, a doctoral student at the University of Illinois Chicago, is conducting this research study. For questions regarding participation in the research study ID #: 2026-0707, please email Madeline Desi Kobayashi at mkobay3@uic.edu.
