Pocket Documentaries
Pocket Documentaries is a hands-on mobile filmmaking workshop that introduces teens and young adults to documentary storytelling using the technology they already have: their phones.
Students learn to develop a story idea, frame and sequence shots, conduct interviews, record clear sound, use natural audio and narration, and edit a short documentary. They explore ethical storytelling, consent, and responsible representation while developing projects about their interests, neighborhoods, cultural experiences, community issues, or PRAA’s events.
Learning goals
- Develop documentary storytelling and media literacy.
- Learn mobile video, framing, interview techniques, sound recording, and editing.
- Build skills in research, listening, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
