Youth Reading Collective
Is your teen a reluctant reader? This program is for students to explore Puerto Rican history, culture, identity, and resistance through reading, writing, discussion, music, and creative projects. And while students are learning about who they are and where they come from, they will also strengthen their reading skills. Reading IRL invites adolescents ages 12-16 to explore Puerto Rican identity, history and culture through engaging and hands-on learning experiences that connect their own stories to the stories of the Boricua diaspora.
During this program your child will have the opportunity to:
- Share their unique opinions and lived experiences across multiple creative formats, including multimedia writing.
- Learn Puerto Rican history, culture, and identity through reading, music, art, movies, and creative projects.
- Share perspectives and help reimagine what reading classes can look like for teens.
