Position Overview
The Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA) is accepting interest forms for dedicated and engaging part-time contracted Music Instructors to teach culturally relevant music education to youth and adults. The instructor will lead group classes and/or private instruction. Submit an instructor interest form today, and we’ll reach out when roles become available.
Teach group or individual music (guitar and/or cuatro) lessons rooted in Latin and Puerto Rican music traditionsDevelop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant lesson plansFoster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student growth and creativitySupport student preparation for performances or community showcases as neededCollaborate with site staff, school partners, and PRAA program coordinatorsMaintain attendance records and basic assessment of student progressParticipate in occasional training or planning meetings (virtual or in-person)
Demonstrated experience in music instruction, especially with youthStrong knowledge of Latin music genres, theory, and performanceExperience working with students in community or school settings preferredReliable transportation to program locationsBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not requiredAbility to pass background checks as required by school and program partners
This is a contracted, hourly position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Instructors are paid for instruction time, prep time, and attendance at required planning meetings.
