Mini Makers

Mini Makers is a beginner's visual arts program that introduces students ages 4-8 to the foundations of art making including painting, drawing, and collage. Each week students learn about a new artist and explore making their own art inspired by that artist in order to begin building an understanding of visual art language, vocabulary, techniques, and art history. Mini Makers invites young artists to discover their own unique voice through a vibrant blend of art history and hands-on experience. By stepping into the studios of inspiring masters each week, children explore rich bold colors, textures, and diverse materials. As they create personal masterpieces that reflect their own style, students naturally build fine motor skills, spark their imagination, and grow confidence in their own creative processes.

During this program your child will have the opportunity to:

• Build Foundational Art Skills: Introduce students to the elements of visual art,including color, line, shape, texture, and composition, through painting, drawing, collage,and hands-on material exploration.
• Encourage Self-Expression and Identity: Help students communicate their unique stories, interests, and identities through creative projects while developing confidence in their artistic choices.
• Develop Fine Motor Skills and Coordination: Strengthen hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and material handling through age-appropriate art techniques and guided activities.
• Foster Social-Emotional Growth: Support patience, perseverance, emotional expression, and confidence as students experiment with new materials, navigate challenges, and learn from mistakes.
• Introduce Art History and Visual Literacy: Build early art vocabulary and observational skills by exploring diverse artists, discussing their work, and identifying artistic techniques and ideas.
