Sacred Presence: Afro-Caribbean Spirituality and The Image
This conversation will explore Afro-Caribbean spirituality, photography, memory, and Black diasporic identity inspired by the work of Lisa DuBois, "Black Women Wearing White". Moderated by Lucumi priestess and professor of critical ethnic studies Dr. Jaqueline Lazú of DePaul University. The panel features Lucumi priestesses Iya Eugenia Tiombe Meteye and Iya Gwen Luster in a dialogue addressing Yoruba/Lucumi traditions, sacred aesthetics, embodiment, and the role of photography in preserving marginalzied spiritual histories.
